Eye wash solutions
Our eye is a masterpiece of nature and the most important sense organ of man. Only the interaction of many small parts in this sensitive organ makes vision possible. More than 90% of all sensory impressions are received through the eye. Reason enough to pay special attention to this sensory organ – and to make provisions for the worst case scenario.
Just a few seconds can make the difference between impaired vision and, in the worst case, loss of vision. In
the case of an eye injury caused by foreign bodies or chemical burns, seconds can be lost. If first aid is not given
immediately and consistently in such a case, the eye can suffer permanent irreparable damage.
For chemical accidents
If acid or lye comes into contact with the eye, damage to the cornea begins immediately. For such accidents, we recommend our buffered solutions, which quickly and gently neutralises the liquid in the eye until the normal pH of 7.4% is reached. Further information and documentation on this process is available.
When dirt enters the eye
Time is also of the essence in accidents where metal, wood, dust or any kind of dirt gets into the eye. In such situations, the immediate use of first aid eye wash can prevent the foreign material from sticking to the eyeball, thus avoiding further serious injury. The sodium chloride solution with a pH (0.9%) equal to the pH of the eye fluid. Using it therefore avoids the unpleasant stinging sensation when flushing the eyes and prevents further contamination.
